Mrs Senor Thomas-Sowe

Senor Thomas-Sowe is the Executive Vice Chair Royal Insurance Gambia Limited. Mrs Senor Thomas-Sowe started her insurance career with Senegambia Insurance Company Limited in 1987 where she rose to the rank of Deputy Manager before which she has been head of various departments. She joined Gamstar Insurance Company Limited in 1996 before joining Global Security Insurance Company limited in 1997 as immediate Assistant to the Managing Director.

She joined International Insurance Company Gambia Limited in December 2000 as Technical Manager where she rose to be the Managing Director for 10 years. She retired in February 2013 and was promoted to the Group as Group Chief Operating Officer-Insurance to oversee all the Insurance Companies in the FIBank Group; That is International Insurance Company Limited in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and The Gambia. She left in February 2014 to join Royal Insurance Gambia Limited as Executive Vice Chair.

She is an alumnus of the College of Insurance and Risk Management (WAII), a Member of The Chartered Insurance Institute of London as well as Fellow of The West African Insurance Institute. She has attended various courses and Seminars both in The Gambia and abroad. Mrs Senor Thomas-Sowe is a Past President of The Insurance Association of The Gambia, Past President of the West African Insurance Companies Association (WAICA) and was a Member of the Governing Council and Academic Board of the West African Insurance Institute.

She is a Director of the WAICA Reinsurance Corporation PLC. Sierra Leone. She Currently also holds directorships in Group Investment Gambia (GIG) and Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS). Previous directorship includes FIB (Banking) Group.

Mr. Makaireh Badjan

Mr Makaireh Badjan is a very diligent and proficient individual with over twenty-three years experience in insurance underwriting, claims administration, customer service and company operations with outstanding communication skills. He possesses great leadership qualities and is very active in the development of the Gambian Insurance Industry.

Mr Badjan is a graduate of the West African Insurance Institute (WAII). He also received Professional Insurance & Customer Service trainings in Germany, USA, Nigeria amongst others and attended several local and international conferences. He is a member of the UK Chartered Insurance Institute.

Mr. Badjan is the Managing Director of the Company. Before joining Royal Insurance Gambia Limited, he was Co-founder & Executive Director responsible for Corporate Client Accounts and Risk Management Services at Appropriate Insurance Solutions Co. Ltd, an Insurance Brokerage and Consultancy Firm. Until August 2010, he was Assistant General Manager, second highest ranking executive of Global Security Insurance Company Ltd. responsible for the technical and general operations of the company.

He is branded to be highly professional in execution of Insurance Services and an ardent advocate for enhanced ethical and professional insurance services in line with international standards and best practices.

Mr. Badjan has served as Executive Committee/Board Member of both the Insurance Association of The Gambia and The Gambia National Ecowas Brown Card Bureau over the last 16 years.

He is the current Vice President of The Insurance Association, Chairman of The Insurance Association of The Gambia’s Technical Committee.

Mr Badjan is a Member of the Executive Committee of the West African Insurance Companies Association (WAICA) and is the current Vice President.  Mr Badjan serves as adviser to many organisations in The Gambia.

Miss Marian Patience Gomez

Ms Gomez joined Royal Insurance Gambia Limited from Inception in January 2014 as Manager Technical. Marian has over 11 years insurance experience in Insurance, and Reinsurance, she has worked hard over the years and prior to joining Royal Insurance She was the Acting Manager Technical at International Insurance Company Limited where She joined the company in October 2003 as Claims and Reinsurance Officer.

Miss Gomez attended the West African Insurance Institute where she obtained a Diploma in 2008. Ms Gomez is a Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London and Presently doing her Associate exams.

She has attended various Courses in Insurance Underwriting, Reinsurance and Claims Management organised by the Company’s various Reinsurers both in Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa. She also was on attachment with various Companies in Lagos, Nigeria.  She also attended a Munich Re Training Course in Reinsurance Treaty Renewals in 2006.

Before She joining the insurance industry in 2003, Miss Gomez worked with the Central Revenue Department now Gambia Revenue Authority as Junior Tax Officer.

Mr Lamin Yabou

Mr Lamin Yabou  joined Royal Insurance Gambia Limited from Inception as Manager Administration and HR. Prior to that He worked at Slok Air International Gambia Limited  as Asistant Manager Administration before joining  International insurance International Insurance Company in 2008 as Head Business Development and Marketing. He was transferred to Head the Administration and Corporate Affairs Department a position held until his departure in August 2013 to take up appointment with Royal Insurance Gambia Limited.

He has a Diploma in Law and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing (ICM Award), He obtained various Certificates in Administration, Management and Marketing from the Management Development Institute and Institute of Professional Administration and Management (IPAM) and Business Training Centre.

He received the President International Youth Awards Certificate in 2006.
